Commissioner Shaw took a personal interest in this issue. Her interests were not limited to her immediate neighborhood nor to mid-county where she lives, but in the fact that citizens of the Drum Point community in Southern Calvert County were not provided the protections of the existing regulations. She was accessible at all times and kept us informed, often by email written by her long after we had retired for the night. Commissioner Shaw did not ask whether our local community group trying to resolve this issue was majority Republican or Democrat. She did not ask what we could do for her. She saw a long standing problem and pushed to have it properly addressed for the residents of the Drum Point community. Commissioner Shaw has a reputation in this community of addressing and resolving problems, without regard to politics. Our hats are off to Susan for being a true “county-wide” commissioner!
